In our travel through time to tracing the history of computers we started with the complex machines of the Ancient World and Middle Ages that set the stage for the development of machines capable of receiving user input and producing a result. In the pre-industrial world, mankind took another leap forward.

History of computers-Calculation plus programability

Early computers were little more than elaborate mechanisms that performed simple calculations. However, in the 1800s, a Frenchman named Joseph Marie Jaquard modified a textile loom to receive punched cards as input. These punch cards, perhaps an early type of binary software, allowed a weaver to ‘program’ the loom  to weave different colors, textures and even patterns.

A delima which faces all computer users is what do do with an old computer. After spending so much money on the hardware and lovingly installing the software, it can be really hard to let that old computer go. Adding to the problem, computers, like cars, start to lose value from the moment your turn them on. If you are thinking it might be time for a new computer system, here are some things to think about.

Old Computer: Value

One of the hardest facts to swallow is the fact that your computer is probably worth a mere fraction of what you spent on it. As technology advances so quickly, software and hardware become obsolete at lightning speed. just as an example, the €1000 desktop computer I bought three years ago for web design now can be found on Ebay for around €200. Therefore, if you are planning on selling your computer. I hate to say it, but it just might be worthless.
