From spreadsheets and word processing to web design and video games, your computer completes billions of processes. Software are the programs that the computer uses to run and hardware is how you interact with that hardware. Typically hardware s thought to consist of a computer’s mouse, keyboard and monitor. However, there is more to computer software thanits external components.
Computer hardware
In addition to the monitor, mouse and keyboard, the materials inside the computer’s central processing unit are also considered hardware. One of the most important parts of a computer’s internal hardware is the motherboard. If you open your computer the motherboard looks very similar to the circuit boards you will find in most electronics. The computer’s microprocessor is mounted on the computer’s motherboard. This processor is the brain of the computer and converts binary code into useful information that the rest of the computer can use. Today, microprocessors typically come in 64 bit or dual core versions. The graphics card is another important component that is located inside the computer. The graphics card converts information into a video image that is displayed on your computer screen. The power supply is another important computer hardware component, this unit converts the electric charge coming from the power source and regulates the energy going to other components.
Upgrading computer hardware
The quality of these components will greatly affect the performance of your computer. Upgrading your computer hardware is one option. The good thing is that, with modern computers, installing a new video card or replacing a worn out power supply is actually pretty easy as long as you follow some basic instructions.
