Laptop of the future Part One April 15, 2011
Posted by martin in : General , trackbackComputers have come a long way and it seems that each year is bringing us faster computers, smaller hardware and ever more impressive software capabilities. Recently, a compact laptop, the netbook, came out followed by the tablet computer. Then we have ourĀ smart phones, which pack more punch in handheld device than was available to NASA. We have also seen a great deal of advances under the hood so to speak. With the new generation of laptops high speed processors, wireless software, CD drives and the capacity to store large amounts of software data are considered standard. But one thing that has never changed with laptops is their basic flip top design. Now that industrial design engineers are getting into the game, we are seeing more unique and practical laptops designs.
The future of laptops
The flip-top, notebook-style laptop has become the accepted norm. Only recently have the iPad and other tablet computers comeĀ onto the market and offered users a new profile. While we do not know what software will be available in the future we do have a glimpse at what the future holds for our laptops. First, we should soon be able to do away with the bulky laptop as hardware like screens and cases become thinner. This miniaturization will lead to many new changes in computer design.
New laptop designs
A few futuristic laptop computer designs have been released. First, the Companion notebook from computer designer in Stuttgart, Germany has built upon the slide phone design and created a laptop whose screen slides down over the keyboard when not in use. Italian design group V12 has taken the notebook style laptop computer and installed an extra scree where the keyboard would be. The keyboard function will certainly remain, but will be touch screen allowing the user much more interface with the computer than simply mashing keys.
