We have come a long way from the first computer games and today’s computer games represent the best that technology, artistic design and, marketing have to offer. Nevermind  the fact that computer video games make life worth living, computer gaming (be it via console, handheld, laptop or desktop computer) is big business. And business is booming. But how much? We know the price of a new computer game title usually hangs around 50 euro and the best titles sell into the millions. But how much money is made selling gaming software to video game junkies like myself?

Computers have come a long way and it seems that each year is bringing us faster computers, smaller hardware and ever more impressive software capabilities. Recently, a compact laptop, the netbook, came out followed by the tablet computer. Then we have our  smart phones, which pack more punch in handheld device than was available to NASA. We have also seen a great deal of advances under the hood so to speak. With the new generation of laptops high speed processors, wireless software, CD drives and the capacity to store large amounts of software data are considered standard. But one thing that has never changed with laptops is their basic flip top design. Now that industrial design engineers are getting into the game, we are seeing more unique and practical laptops designs.

IEEE International Conference on Software Testing, Veriification and Validation February 26, 2011

IEEE, the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers, world’s largest professional association for the advancement of technology is hosting its 4th annual conference in Berlin in March of 2011. Called the 2001 International Conference on Software testing, Verification and Validation, this five-day conference focuses on the challenges of software quality and blends a variety of disciplines from mathematics and engineering to psychology.

This five day conference offers speeches, software research seminars, computer technology workshops, panel sessions as well as opportunity to mingle, socialize and strengthen networks.
The conference will be held in Berlin at the Esplanade Hotel. The conferences kicks-off on Monday, March 21st with a day of workshops and runs all day, each day (8:00 am to 7:00pm) until ending on Friday evening the 25th of March.

International Conference on Software Testing, Verification and Validation-Keynote Speakers
No computer conference would be complete without an impressive array of keynote speakers and the 2001 ICST is not exception. This year’s keynote speakers include Wolfgang Schulte, principal software researcher and founding manager of Microsoft’s Research in Software Engineering team in Washington State, USA. He is planned to present on his software research work with a focus on Microsoft’s approach to testing.

Another keynote speaker scheduled is Bern Leukert of SAP. Leukert is vice president of Quality Governance and Production at the German software giant. His talk will focus on customer service in the software technology field and discuss the unique SAP customer service strategy.

Any trip to a computer convention or a quick look at an advertisement for a computer dealer will highlight all the coolest gadgets for communications, the biggest monitors for web design and the fastest computers for gaming. But what about the unsung heroes of the computer world? What about the hardware that accounts for about 90% of human to computer interaction? Lets hear it for the mouse and they keyboard?
