Posted by martin in : News , add a commentI love shopping for my next computer; looking at video cards, selecting the word processing and web design software, upgrading the memory and of course, best of all, picking out the largest monitor I can afford. But what I hate most of all is when the bill comes because the amount of money I spent on the hardware and software is always way over my budget. I mean, why does (more…)

Posted by martin in : General , add a commentUsually its a tug of war between Mac users and those who prefer PCs. Mac users swear their computers crash less, are better for web design and and PC users saying that all the good software is for PC and Mac users are nothing more than pretentious hipsters. But what about the Sony Vaio laptop? They have a slick design like a Mic and run Windows software like a PC, but we seldom hear anyone sticking up for them.

GIMP-free image manipulation software May 17, 2011
Posted by martin in : General , add a commentIts great finding free software on the web. True, the antivirus software suites you buy are better than their free versions. The program you paid for that automatically backs up your hard drive is superior to the free cloud-based storage options. But in many cases free software programs like iTunes are just about as good at managing music on your computer as any other program. However, while Adobe Photoshop might be the be all end all for photo manipulation software programs, (more…)

Best selling computer games April 23, 2011
Posted by martin in : General , add a commentWe have come a long way from the first computer games and today’s computer games represent the best that technology, artistic design and, marketing have to offer. Nevermind the fact that computer video games make life worth living, computer gaming (be it via console, handheld, laptop or desktop computer) is big business. And business is booming. But how much? We know the price of a new computer game title usually hangs around 50 euro and the best titles sell into the millions. But how much money is made selling gaming software to video game junkies like myself?
Best selling computer games
You might be surprised to find that your favorite computer games are not found in the list of the most popular, or even the best selling computer game software. But you probably wont be shocked to learn that the second mot popular computer game is World of Warcraft with 13 million units sold. Laptop of the future Part One April 15, 2011
Posted by martin in : General , add a commentComputers have come a long way and it seems that each year is bringing us faster computers, smaller hardware and ever more impressive software capabilities. Recently, a compact laptop, the netbook, came out followed by the tablet computer. Then we have our smart phones, which pack more punch in handheld device than was available to NASA. We have also seen a great deal of advances under the hood so to speak. With the new generation of laptops high speed processors, wireless software, CD drives and the capacity to store large amounts of software data are considered standard. But one thing that has never changed with laptops is their basic flip top design. Now that industrial design engineers are getting into the game, we are seeing more unique and practical laptops designs.
